Terms and Conditions

These terms are the agreement between you and Microtask when you use microtask.ng. Please read them, because by creating an account or using Microtask you agree to them.

1. About Microtask

Microtask ("Microtask", "we", "us") runs a platform where workers earn money by completing small online tasks, and hosts (businesses and individuals) post tasks or hire workers directly. We provide the platform; we are not the employer of workers, and workers are independent, not our employees or agents. How we handle personal data is explained in our Privacy Policy.

2. Your account

• You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter a binding agreement.
• Give accurate information and keep it up to date. You may have only one account.
• Keep your password, verification codes, authenticator app and passkeys safe. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has accessed it.
• To withdraw money you must verify your email and phone number and set up an authenticator app or passkey. We may also ask you to verify your identity (KYC). We can refuse or delay withdrawals until verification is complete.

3. Doing tasks

• Applying to some tasks costs Micro Gold, as shown on the task.
• Follow each task's instructions and submit honest, genuine proof of your own work.
• Submissions are reviewed by the host or by us. Only approved work earns the reward. Rejected work, or work that breaks these terms, earns nothing.
• If we later find that approved work was fake, copied or broke these terms, we can reverse the earnings.

4. Hosting tasks

• Hosts pay for tasks in Micro Gold when they create them. The cost is the reward per person times the number of people needed, plus a 5% platform fee, shown before you confirm.
• New and edited tasks are reviewed before workers can see them. We can refuse or remove any task.
• Tasks must be legal and honest and must follow section 9. Write clear instructions and review submissions fairly and on time.
• Because the reward and number of people were paid for at creation, they can't be changed afterwards.

5. Direct Hire

• Hosts can send a private job offer to one worker. When the offer is sent, the pay plus a 5% platform fee (minimum 50 Gold) is taken from the host's Gold and held.
• If the worker declines, or the host withdraws the offer before it is accepted, the Gold is returned to the host.
• After accepting, the worker does the job and sends proof. The host either approves it, which adds the pay to the worker's earnings, or asks for changes with a clear note.
• Hosts and workers must deal with each other honestly and keep the job on Microtask. Don't use Direct Hire to arrange payment outside Microtask.

6. Micro Gold

• Micro Gold is a credit used only on Microtask, for example to host tasks, hire workers and apply to tasks. It is not money and can't be withdrawn or exchanged for cash.
• The only way to give Gold to another person is to appreciate their post on Explore. Gold you receive this way stays Gold: it can be used on Microtask but never withdrawn as cash. Sending Gold needs a verified identity or a past Gold purchase, there are limits on how much you can send, and gifts can't be reversed.
• Gold sent or received in breach of these terms, for example between linked or fake accounts, may be removed.
• Gold can be bought on the Get Gold page. Purchases are charged in US dollars by our payment partner. Except where the law requires otherwise, Gold purchases are final and not refundable.
• Gold given as a bonus (such as the welcome bonus) may be removed if it was obtained by breaking these terms.

7. Earnings and withdrawals

• Earnings are recorded in US dollars. Amounts shown in other currencies (Settings → Currency) are estimates at a live exchange rate and may change; the dollar amount is what counts.
• The minimum withdrawal is $1.00 (shown in your currency). Withdrawals are paid by bank transfer to an account in your own name.
• Withdrawals are reviewed before payment and can take some time to process. Your bank or payment partner may charge fees, and the amount you receive in your local currency depends on the exchange rate when it is paid.
• You are responsible for any taxes on your earnings.
• We may hold or cancel withdrawals connected to fraud, abuse, chargebacks or a breach of these terms, and reverse earnings that were obtained improperly.

8. Referrals and bonuses

You can earn a bonus when friends join with your referral link, and new users who sign up with a link get a welcome bonus, at the amounts shown on the Referral page. Referring yourself, creating fake accounts or any other abuse of referrals or bonuses will cancel the bonuses and may close the accounts involved. We can change or end referral and bonus programmes at any time; this won't affect bonuses already properly earned.

9. Rules everyone follows

You must not use Microtask to:

• break any law, or ask anyone else to;
• post or request fake reviews, fake engagement that breaks another platform's rules, spam, scams or misleading content;
• share sexual content, hate, harassment, threats or violence;
• collect other people's personal data, passwords or payment details;
• create multiple or fake accounts, use bots or automation, or cheat tasks, referrals or bonuses;
• copy other people's work or infringe anyone's intellectual property;
• interfere with Microtask's security, or access accounts or data that aren't yours.

10. Your content

You keep ownership of what you upload (such as proof files, profile photos and messages). You give Microtask permission to store, display and process it as needed to run the service, for example showing your submission to the task's host. When you complete a task or Direct Hire job and it is approved and paid, you allow the host to use the work you delivered for the purpose described in the task. Only upload content you have the right to share.

11. AI features

AI Chat and "Write with AI" are tools to help you. Their answers can be wrong or incomplete, so check them before relying on them. You are responsible for anything you post, including job offers drafted with AI.

12. Suspension and closing accounts

You can delete your account at any time in Settings, once any pending withdrawal has been paid. We may suspend or close an account, remove content, or withhold earnings and Gold connected to a breach of these terms, fraud or a legal requirement. Where reasonable we'll tell you why and give you a chance to respond.

13. Our responsibility

• We work to keep Microtask available and accurate, but it is provided "as is". We don't guarantee it will always be available or error-free, or that any particular amount of work or earnings will be available.
• We are not responsible for the actions of hosts, workers or other users, or for third-party sites and services linked from tasks.
• To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount of earnings or purchases involved in the claim, or the fees you paid us in the previous 12 months, whichever is greater.
• Nothing in these terms limits rights you have that can't be limited by law.

14. Changes

We may update these terms as Microtask changes. We'll change the "Last updated" date above, and if the changes are significant we'll tell you by email or on the site before they take effect. If you keep using Microtask after that, you accept the new terms.

15. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If you have a problem, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If we can't, disputes will be handled by the courts of Nigeria.
